Live Review by "Radio Free David" in NM

Live Review by David Schneider of "Radio Free David" in NM

Every now and then someone comes along that simply stops you dead in your tracks and makes you listen. This is exactly the case with Lee Tyler Post.

I encountered Lee at a local arts & crafts fair in New Mexico. He walked in with no fuss or fanfair. He quietly set up, just himself and his guitar. He sat down, and so far, all seemed quite ordinary. He looked around for a moment, hefted his guitar and what was quite usual suddenly became amazingly, wonderfully and fantastically different. He played a set (who knows how long that lasted, because you were just riveted to where you were in a very timeless state): his voice called to everyone there, at once low and gravelly and soaring beyond where you would expect it. His guitar sang along with him and sounded so full and rich you swore there was an entire symphony accompanying him. He sang to each and every one of us there and it touched everyone.

His tunes are full of soul, of himself. He is a storyteller and you will simply be swept away in them. Time will pass and you will not know it. And you will feel, truly feel, as each story unfolds.

I cannot begin to say enough good things about Lee Tyler Post, except that you will be hearing more from him here on Radio Free David.

From his Emancipate album, we are privileged to be running three great cuts: Thunderclap (already one of my all time most favorite tunes…ever),  Price You Pay and Vacant.

Lee Tyler Post is truly what Radio Free David is all about.

Emancipate Review

By ImproviJAZZationNation Magazine Though the songs Lee croons are definitely not jazz (& there is NOTHING wrong with that - we all need a change of pace once in a while), they are filled with the kind of raw soul and lyrical power many of us in this country grew up on! I hear snatches of singers like Gregg Allman, Springsteen, even a taste of Dylan at his zenith. His all-original compositions speak to every one of us... our foibles, intrigues, joys & pains, and they do it without coming across (in the least) as "cry in yer' beer" cheapos. One thing you can rest assured of, you'll be hearing about this gent for a long time to come... his talent for digging down deep into your deepest memories & helping you reflect on them will (believe it or not) free you from the chains you may have enshrouded your psyche with. His guitar-playing shows clear talent (& love of playing), but it's not all gooped up with high-tech wizardry that focuses the listener away from his message... the best example of that for me was "Thunderclap", but the track that turned out to be my favorite was "Hurricane"... nice swirling guitars, solid bass lines and beautiful lyrical descriptions of what happens when the winds of change are blowing... his vocal just SOARS on this one! I'm mightily impressed & very happy to have made his acquaintance through his REVERBNATION page "Emancipate" gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from my ears! http://zzaj.freehostia.com/Z90Reviews.htm By Rotcod Zzaj - ImproviJAZZationNation Magazine (Apr 6, 2009)

Woodstock & Carol's House Concert in NJ!

We had a great time in the amazing-beautiful Woodstock. Which is very similar to places Jackie and I grew up around in CA. (Idyllwild, Julian, Cuyamaca) Small artisic town, with the smell of pine trees in the wind. The Colony Cafe is one of the best sounding venues I've played. The room is awesome. The surround sound in that big old hotel is crazy. I'll be back soon. Dates are in the works. Carol's House Concert in Milford, NJ was fantastic! Greg Love played lead guitar for me, just an amazing player. Captures my vibe, and adds just the right texture the music craves. Felt like I had The Edge of U2 & Eric Clapton rolled into one. But a style all his own. Carol Bernotas put on a first class event with incredible desserts during intermission, that she personally made! She has the coolest house too, right out of a movie ... perfect. Thank you Carol (& Matt) for hosting the concert, getting press in the local paper and treating Jackie and I so good. And Greg for playing. Made my job easy! And a big special THANKS to everyone who attended. You all know who you are ... you were a great audience and it was my pleasure to perform for you! We're working on doing another House Concert out that way soon, so I'll keep you posted. Sunday morning at The Farmers Market was also very cool. Greg again played and although it seemed like 1,000 degrees out ... a great time was had by all. First time we've ever been given produce after playing ... ha ha ... that was priceless. Thank you Carol for setting that up too :) Well, as always, your support is humbling. It really strengthens my faith in the music, what i'm trying to do. The last few months have answered some questions I had. So Thank you ... its folks like you that keep the music alive! (that goes double for my NC people...and Tucson ...well ... all of you) We're miles from home... but already miss NY ;-) There's just something about that "Magical Mystical City" ... and its surroundings. See you all in August ok! Lee

Interview with Industry Mag - SC

It's rare you'll find that I venture too far away from featuring 'true blues artists' in this column, then again, I keep finding this connection and reawakening among the music of our pop culture that ties back into root music and that's exactly what we have for this month's Upstate Blues Report featuring Lee Tyler Post. Lee told me he can still recall the day he personally and emotionally felt moved as he was driving to his blue collar job 18 years ago, listening to the radio when he heard Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door". He said to himself 'that's the most brilliant artist, musician and songwriter I've ever heard"…It was an awakening. He knew at that exact moment he had to buy a guitar and forevermore sing, write and play from the heart, as if he had found his purpose in life at the early age of 22, no matter how good or not he was…and yes, the universe smiled upon him and said 'you're good, do it'. And so he has, traveling from town to town ever since, like a gypsy troubadour daring to pull in strangers, word by word and note by note. And somehow, the bills get paid and life is good, those fantasy existents we all like to dream about but are often scared to pursue. How many of us are living true to 'if I could do or be anything today where money's not an object, I would be or do _____". That's why I must feature Lee this month, as not only a musical genius but an inspiration to everyone reading this article, going through life on a path you think you have to be on versus one that you dream about and wish you could be on. But there's more to the story, oh yeah, I dug a little deeper…because I am always curious who and what influenced music in all of us, from our very earliest childhood memory. Was it your what your parents listened to or allowed you to listen to, was it your church or choir music, what your older or younger siblings were into, your school friends, musicals at your school plays or your first theater experience, your first vinyl, 8-track, cassette or CD? So allow me to introduce you to Lee Tyler Post. And make a note: you heard it here first at Industry Mag because this guy is THE next big thing, the real deal as the talent scouts like to say. Ok, I'm sorry to gush on here, but I must! How did I find Lee Tyler Post? Well, while he's a "SC" artist, he's not from 'here'. In his world, "SC" stands for Southern California, San Diego to be exact. And yes, I found him on the notorious myspace where there are some incredible musicians and Indie labels just waiting to be discovered. But ironically when I hit him up on myspace, I had no idea of his plans to move to Asheville. Divine intervention? Because, guys, really, you gotta trust me on this and check him out either on myspace and at a live show. And now that he's officially relocated to Asheville, he'll be more local-club accessible and will be entering the Greenville music scene, especially if I have anything to do with it…… Let's just say I go to bed every night with Marvin Gaye (ok, ok, ok: 'listening to', not 'with'); and now I am sharing this musical night with Lee (his wife Jackie completely understands!). Lee's music has the ability to intimately connect on a one-on-one personal level in each of his songs…where the listener almost feels guilty, like they're eavesdropping on extremely private moments…whether you want to rock, to just 'feel', to cry, or to allow a stranger to express that which you feel but can't express-- listen to Lee's music. I challenge you to feel, really feel. Lee Tyler Post's musical landscape ranges from Acoustic Soul, to Roots Rock, to Southern Blues, with a splash of Adult Alternative. His lyrics convey stories of everyday people and especially heart-wrenching ballads that are guaranteed to hit a personal note. He calls it "Rock N Soul." He's got original music and songs that could all be number one hits in about 3 to 4 different genres….Simon Cowell? Where are you? Yet he is completely happy gigging at coffee houses, restaurants, side or main stages…doesn't matter…he's living a life few of us will ever know, touring the country, meeting new people, discovering new places every day. Connecting to people through that universal language of music, doing what he loves most in life. I even wondered during the interview if he realized just how amazing he is, and how he's crossing over to the masses while he's busy building a reputation as a road warrior with his blue-collar approach, performing 150-200 shows a year and driving 25,000-40,000 miles annually. He has also released 5 studio albums during this period. His tours, which some call a "perpetual tour", take him through cities as far away as Seattle, NYC, Tampa, San Diego, and everywhere in between! He is one artist staying and living 'true'…he'll never sell out to commercialization, labels, digital or money….he doesn't need to. The grass is greener here on this side. I made the assumption that Lee moved to Asheville because of its vibrant and eclectic music scene but that wasn't the case. Seems it was more due to geographic centralization where he could cover the entire east coast within one full day of driving, versus the days of driving it takes to cover just one west coast state. And to come home from off the road to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Western Carolina and Upstate SC as his personal retreat--makes sense to me. Plus, his southern rock and soul style probably lends itself more to us folks here in the south and on the east coast who grew up with and can relate to the likes of his influences, which read like an E! Entertainment Channel Top 100 list of all time best: Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Allman Brothers, Aretha, Seger, Hendrix, Tom Waits, Janis, Bruce, Elton, alright already! He's killing me here…and did I mention: Walt Whitman, Ernest Hemmingway and Robert Frost…I'm exhausted…so go to www.myspace.com/leetylerpost for a full list of influences…and you'll hear almost every one of them in his original songs which is what makes his music eerie and comfortingly familiar all at the same time….yet new and addicting. One reviewer writes: "Lee's marathon live performances (2-3 hr sets) have been described by his fans as an emotional roller-coaster, passionate, powerful and moving, honest & pure, intense and straight from the heart..." His down-to-earth on-stage persona compliments his dynamic voice and electrifying shows. I got goose-bumps just listening to his myspace on my laptop the first time I clicked him in to my world…and live, oh good lord. That's a WOW; hate that you guys missed his first Greenville performance at Sticky Fingers…but no worries, he's going to be back at all our favorite Greenville music clubs real soon. So, back to his first memorable musical influence: his older brother Chris. With a pretty popular music loving, self-taught musician guitarist brother 9 years older, who was up on all the great artists and tunes of the time in the 70's and 80's, Lee sat back and let his brother have the spotlight. But his brother went the direction of corporate America and was successful in his own right as a business man, not pursuing music as a career. So that fateful day of reconnecting with Bob Dylan became the impetus for Lee to sincerely embrace music without looking like he was just imitating or mocking an older brother. After all, who can really make a good living as a singer songwriting pub and coffee house gigging musician? Isn't that just something you do as a hobby, a passion? But little did Lee's brother realize the influence he's had and still has on Lee's life and decision to be dedicated 100% 24/7 to sharing his soul and naturally honed musical abilities with you, his audience. And get this: he not only personally writes, produces, publishes, books, and 'hand puts' his CDs together, he personally records his albums on a 16-track two inch analog machine with zero digital corrections. Sometimes that raw stuff is what the real stuff is made of. Roots, history, raw. Of course, none of this article means anything to you our Industry Mag heroes and supporters unless you trust us and take in a show…just go to www.myspace.com/leetylerpost for an up-to-the-minute tour schedule because believe me, he's adding on new gigs daily…and Greenvillians, don't let NYCity start to steal him away from us! Seems the old Hendrix and Dylan hang outs there in SoHo have discovered Lee too! Now that's saying something. Let's keep him in demand here, in Greenville because Greenville is fast becoming one of the hottest live music scenes on the east coast! For more information and tour schedule, please visit: www.leetylerpost.com and www.myspace.com/leetylerpost Show your support at an upcoming show and tell him Industry Mag sent you! http://www.industrymag.net/industrymag/Read_It_Online_files/JUNEindustry.pdf *Online June 1st! The Gypsy Troubadour By James Smith

It seems nowadays the music industry is full of manufactured artists with dollar signs in their eyes, feeding their huge egos. Whatever happened to the home-grown, humble artist who created music just for the love of it? During this day and age, it’s extremely difficult to find someone who measures up to those attributes, especially when considering how cut-throat the industry is. Fortunately not all is lost. One unique soul that freely expresses his love for the art form is singer-songwriter Lee Tyler Post. With this in mind, Post hasn’t been an overnight success. He’s been strumming on his acoustic guitar while crooning to open ears since the mid-‘90s. Starting out as a San Diego-based artist during that time, he opened for bands such as Missing Persons and Blink 182. These talents would later lead him to appear on the KUSI and KNSD morning shows. All the while, Lee has been spreading what some would call “blue collar music” (or rock ‘n’ soul as he calls it) to everyone within earshot. This “blue collar music” is what separates Lee from most other artists. His songs are mostly about working-class concerns, which is why Lee considers himself a working-class musician. He has performed in over half the states in America, while driving all the miles to and from the venues without having a record label, a manager or a booking agent. This explains where his “blue collar” attitude comes from. “I like to connect with others through music, maybe share a moment while I’m onstage,” he says. “In a way, I envy the days of Woody Guthrie, traveling by boxcars, playing for food.” That, my friends, is what you call down-to-earth. Don’t think that the self-proclaimed “Gypsy Troubadour” stops there. He has also spent his time and talents for charitable causes. He has performed for benefits such as M.A.D.D., the M.S. Society and The Ramona Cancer Resource Center. His most recent visit was The Heartland Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center in San Diego—he is a very busy man. From the mid-‘90s through today, Lee has released five albums. His latest release, Emancipate, takes you on a journey through his emotions and his thoughts on love. He is one artist that is not afraid to show his humility to others. With an impressive combination of a husky voice and earthy lyrics, it becomes surprisingly easy to relate to what he has to say. Even in the midst of its gloomy mood, Emancipate always offers something enlightening. “Vacant” is an example—a depressing song about lost love. The calm rumbling of the guitars and the husky crooning straps you in for an emotional rollercoaster ride, but proves more memorable than fearful. While “Revisited” (a slow ballad that sounds like it could have been a hit during the ‘50s) may lift your spirits about being in love, things take another twist on “When It’s Over.” Judging by his music, it’s understandable why some have tagged his live performances (some of which last two to three hours without a pause) “intense and straight from the heart.” The music speaks for itself. Having recorded this album on a 16 track, two-inch analog machine, with zero digital corrections, Post obviously has grass roots at the heart of everything. His old school vibe and process of making music makes his sound authentic—not deceiving by modern technologies. An artist of such talent and love for music comes one in a million. James Smith - Encore Magazine in Cape Fear NC (Aug 4, 2006) Biography: Post's musical landscape ranges from Acoustic Soul, to Roots Rock, to Southern Blues, with a splash of Adult Alternative. His lyrics convey stories of everyday people. He calls it "Rock N Soul." Starting out as a San Diego based artist in the mid 90s, Lee opened for the likes of Missing Persons & Blink 182. Followed were live TV appearances on The KUSI & KNSD Morning Shows. In 1999 Lee relocated to Nashville, TN where he honed his craft playing alongside such greats as Tony Lane. Over the past 7 years, LTP has built a reputation as a road warrior with his blue-collar approach. Performing 150-200 shows a year - and driving 25,000-40,000 miles annually. His down-to-earth on-stage persona compliments his dynamic voice and electrifying shows. Always eager to lend his time and talents to charitable causes, Lee has performed at benefits for M.A.D.D., the M.S. Society, and The Ramona Cancer Resource Center. As well as at benefit fundraisers for camps for seriously ill children like The Victory Junction Gang Camp owned by Kyle Petty, the racecar driver. Along with Bikers Who Care/Toys for Tots to help under privileged children. And most recently for The Heartland Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center in San Diego, CA! Currently Lee resides in Asheville, NC where he is finishing up his next 2 releases, "Gathering The Stones" & "Soulturated." Lee will then embark on a coast-to-coast Summer & Fall tour to promote both albums!

Magical Night!

Wanted to reflect back on my travels of 2007! One night in particular. At the Green Planet Coffee House in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. A Magical night of music happened. Featuring the talents of Arnie Baird on lead, Spike Ivory on drums, A bass player named Fred, lap guitarist named Rick, and a young man named Sam on acoustic... turned into the coolest night on tour. Not a big crowd, but for those there, they got to see and hear "my music", the way i do, with a band around me. Oh, and on the spot without ever hearing me, or meeting me before. On a night I thought I was playing a short set solo, turned into a 4 hr jamm session with Arnie & The Boys! And on May 31st ... it happens again at the same place, with the same players. I cant wait!!!

Posole Fest 2007 in New Mexico!

The House Concert was a great success. Thank you Mike & LaVerne for having me play this wonderful event. My pleasure! And for opening your doors too Jackie, my parents & grandfather as well. Great food (spanish/mexican - of course my favorite) and great folks. Can't go wrong ... Thanks, Lee

Please Help if you can!

Please visit this site and see if you might be able to help. If nothing else, spread the word.

New Encore Magazine Review!

Home on the Road: Lee Tyler Post settles into Emancipate 10/04/07 @ 10:07:47 am by archivesadmin By: Laura Bond San Diego native Lee Tyler Post is a musician by trade, a gypsy by design. His rare blend of “rock ‘n’ soul” recalls the Southern blues movement while incorporating some classic rock and singer-songwriter elements. Yet, his grassroots approach to making music and his relatable lyrics are what keeps listeners a part of his down-to-earth sounds. Post’s current tour has him booked until December, but being on the road is not just a way to boost album sales for the self-proclaimed “Traveling Troubadour”; it’s the place he calls home. And home is where Emancipate, the artist’s most recent accomplishment, is being mastered in front of audiences everywhere. His fifth full-length album, Emancipate was written, engineered, mixed and produced by Post in 2003 at Miracle Something Studios on Winidian Records. Post’s intense voice hits hard from the beginning on the opening track “Vacant,” a passionate sonnet dedicated to his wife. The romantic lyrics “my heart is aching for you,” capture the essence of acoustic soul, while his strained, husky vocals remain reminiscent of rock influence Bruce Springsteen. Post and fellow band mates constructed a powerful contrast throughout Emancipate by combining a rhythmic acoustic style with twangy electric guitar. Songs such as the second track, “Hurricane,” and track six, “Revisited,” give the album texture by contrasting upbeat rock tempos with a slow Southern blues-influenced harmonica on the latter. The lyrics are honest and passionate, particularly on songs such as “Thunderclap” where he showcases his vocal range while singing: “Heaven never felt like this/so I know this time this is it.” Post refers to his unique brand of composition as “blue-collar music” as he strives to stay connected with the ordinary troubles of working-class America. Likewise, he never strays far from his own grassroots—the album was recorded on an analog machine using two-inch tape—while he draws from poetic and musical influences such as T.S. Eliot, Walt Whitman, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan. Post’s tour schedule will land him a spot at The Juggling Gypsy on Castle Street on October 11th at 8pm to promote the upcoming release of his newest record, Half Painted Window on Lost Cat Records. Post, who lists his place of residency as “the road” and whose live show is reportedly “two to three hours without a pause” will definitely bring the same intensity to his show, as is evident on his last album.

Review by D.C. Acoustic Underground

I don't know Lee Tyler Post personally. I first met him in San Diego at the Acoustic Alliance XI where he performed with 11 other performers in a round robin rotation. Four players would go up on stage at once and each take turns singing three songs each. Each rotation of performers increased the experience and level of talent, so when Lee went up with the last batch he was in good company. Sitting last, he sat quietly as the other three performers each did one song each. The crowd of 200 was all milling about between the music, the bar and the back of the room where the artists merchandise tables were set up. When Lee started his first of three songs, the whole room stopped, turned and listened. His voice was masked by his kind and quiet demeanor but only until he sang. And that is Lee Tyler Post. An amazing performer and kind and gentle soul who is on a journey many of us wish we could experience. So when Lee contacted me out of the blue saying he was passing through D.C. on his national tour and asked if I could help him with a gig (we were introduced that night by our mutual brother in music, Hot Rod Harris), I jumped at the chance to set something up. By the time he arrived in D.C. in July, I had the D.C. Acoustic Underground (DCAU) up and running, so I took the opportunity to steal a performance with him and decided to open up his show myself. What happened next was really amazing and a true testimony to Lee's music. His wife, Jackie, was setting up his CDs for sale when he was starting his first song and by the time he finished his first song, she had sold three of them. Looking at her I knew she was used to it. That night, Lee sold 14 CDs to people who had never heard of him before that performance. One local singer/songwriter actually came up to him later that night and told him she cried during one of his songs. She told him she was changed and reinvigorated after hearing him. Another regular told me just recently she emailed him a thank you for recommending a movie and everyone wants to know when he's coming back. I am wondering too. Lee's music is a powerful blend of soul and heart delivered in haunting melodies, on an incredible voice. The lyrics hold your attention as you wait to see where he is taking you. Every song is different. Some have happy endings and some sad and you feel all of it. This is what the DCAU was made for, to bring this experience to D.C. Recently I got a short email from Lee asking how I was doing. Sitting here, typing this and listening to one of your six records, I can tell you Lee, I'm doing just fine. Thank you brother. Seattle Experience

Returned from my cross country tour and hooked up with my pal Gentry Bronson for 7 nights in Seattle. Now, i knew from his music we'd be a good match sharing bills. And hes just fantastic live. Quite the treat for me because i had only heard him on cds. But he sounds exactly like them. Which = awesome. He has his own style and draws you into his storys. Just a fabulous talent. And on top of being a great musician (hes playing piano on 'gathering the stones' thank you) hes a hell of a guy. We hit if off right away. For those who missed the experience - The shows were great. We took turns going back and forth, song by song and from what we heard, was a awesome show to watch. (it was amazing onstage)Only problem was, seems everyone in seattle was on vacation. To those who were there, Gentry and I thank you for coming out. Buf, Karl, George, Pete, Jade, Robert, Evonne, Ed, Carin, Eddie, PAm, Sandy, Barbara, Steven, (i'll add the rest soon). WE wont forget you guys sticking around. Gentry and I will embark on a cross country tour next year ... but thats another story! Lee

AwesomeRadio.net

Review by DJ Shashona: Lee Tyler Post is one of the finest Artists I have found in years. His smooth as silk voice soothes the restless spirit. His lyrics are heartfelt and masterful. He is the kind of singer that demands your attention without the slightest effort. The audience is mystified and entranced the second his tracks hit the airwaves. We at www.awesomeradio.net love this mans style and grace. He is a brilliant artist and his CD's are amazing. He is a superstar and doesnt know it yet. -DJ - Shashona www.awesomeradio.net

Great people and stories. I have been deeply touched by all we've stayed with and hung out with. I feel so lucky to live this life. I'll probably add stuff to this entry but for now, ya all know who you are...thanks! LTP

North Carolina

Just a great time in Winston-Salem and Greensboro, NC. Big thanks to Bryan Smith and his super cool lady - Sheila for putting us up and showing us real southern hospitality. Had a wonderful time buddie. Borders was fun and got to meet/hear Jim (thin of thick-n-thin), great talent. Jim & Raquel Kimberly (and the kids), Dane, Judy, and those I'm forgetting. The pleasure was all mine meeting you all. Busy store for sure. Flat Iron Tavern was crazy. Drove through a electrical storm with lightning all around us. Bryan, if that's normal dude, oh my! Finally made it safe to the venue and played from 9 pm until 1:30 am. I want to thank Sheila, Kris, Billy & Melissa, Krystal, and all the others who came out to hear Bryan and I. We had a blast and my throat is still sore from blasting. Great sounding room. Permanent stop on tour from now on. You all made us feel real special. Thank you. Must mention i saw the coolest house maybe in the state. Larry & Lee Ann, was great meeting you two. What a place you got - wow! Bryan talked me into playing a few songs as well before heading off to a real Mexican Resturant in the south. Almost like home folks...pretty good. Next stop NYC! Finally ... Bryan Hayes (superb storyteller), Braden Land (will be a huge name soon people, I promise), and Kelsey Waite (the finest female voice, hell, voice period I have heard in like 20 yrs. Kelsey, you're amazing - what soul) you all were awesome. I will hopefully be making this my offical Memphis stop from now on. July Newsletter

I have posted the complete tour dates for the summer, early fall. (TOUR LINK) Some have been cancelled and some have been added. But barring any unforseen mishaps, this should be it. Ok, I did not finish my cd up in Montana. I have made plans to finish it in Sept. after the tour at Big Rock Studios. I also have some kinda big news too share with you soon, that will kinda explain the hold-up on both cds. I will be concentrating strickly on finishing "Gathering The Stones" & "Soulturated" from Sept. to New Years. I have some added motivation now. Some really cool things are about to happen ... ;-) Good stuff. I know alot of you are waiting on the new material. And trust me when i say, i've been working on both cds. These will be very well done and mirror "emancipate" as far as vibe. I have some great talent working with me on these, Claudio Martin, Eric Nielsen, Andy Machin, (Simeon Flick who played on emancipate) and many more. I'm very excited to release both, but i want them right. If it takes until the end of the year, thats ok. Thank you everyone for your kind words and support of late. Hope this finds everyone well! Lee (leaving Montana ...)

Heading East ...

The Journey continues ...

Landed in Seattle a few weeks ago and have been floating since. What a great city and unbelievable place. The city is surrounded by water, with mountains that are still snow capped. Got rain 2 days out of 20, but compared to the south, felt like a drizzle. The music scene is second to none as well. Just wrapped up 5 straight nights of shows (rainbow tavern, cnp cafe, trabant lounge, cafe bella, borders), and Its always a drag when its over and i have to take a break. I love to play but after 2 and 3 hours of singing a night, sometimes its good to have a few days off. I should probably also mention that i've been joined by some fantastic singers of late. Angela Reed joined me at The Trabant Lounge and what a sweet beautiful voice. Full rich tone and great command. Then most recently Jerin Falkner joined me at the Cafe Bella and wow, again, just a beautiful voice. Both these ladys also have great songs. I'm having a great time and the shows have been good, but my time is almost up before i head for the south/east so i'm trying to soak up the Northwest as much as possible. I do return in the fall though to live. Cant wait. ALso, the Cafe Bella is by far the coolest sounding cafe room in Seattle. Very close to Conor Byrnes in Ballard. Thank you India, Kim, Ben, Orion and Jerin, was a fun night. I've been very fortunate enough to live this crazy, yet wonderful life with my sweet Jackie by my side. Getting to play some great venues and see this country up close and personal with my best friend. I do believe Seattle is a good fit for both Jackie and I, and for my style of music. But really, the road is where we live. Got a small break before i have another run of shows so nows a good time to finish up a few tunes. I'll leave you with my most recent press releases Review of Lee Tyler Post by Gentry Bronson: "...Lee Tyler Post is one of those rare finds from the back of a dusty old antique store where under a pile of broken bone china you find a stack of records and each one is brilliant. This man is part demon and part angel and you can hear it in his voice, which rings of many awe inspiring influences. Ian Astbury (The Cult), Chris Cornell (Audioslave/Soundgarden), and Mark Lanegan (The Screaming Trees/Queens Of The Stone Age/The Mark Lanegan Band) vibrate alongside Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard in Lee's soulful, explosive voice. And his songwriting is all soul, with heavy splashes of torment and bursts of beautiful resurrection. This is a man of the road who's incredibly prolific songwriting reflect his experiences with complete honesty. Creep inside this man's musical mind straight from the dirt and sweat of the blues and the grit of rock, and you will find some pain, a few tears, and a lot of salvation..." Thunderclap - Review by Serena Matthews: "...Now some of you already know Lee, esp. if you know me because I've probably mentioned him. But if you don't know Lee then you should know Lee. You know how sometimes you hear a song and you wonder how you ever just were walking around through life without having heard that before? Well that's how his songs are. For lack of a better word, they are intoxicating. Lee isn't famous, and I doubt he wants to be, because he is like me in the fact that he doesn't care about things like that, it's all about the music for him. Some people say that and they really don't mean it, but with Lee you can tell he means it and he doesn't even have to say it. But the thing is, he has a huge following and that is because he tours like a bird, migrating from place to place until it feels right to move again and let some different people hear his music. Lee has this song called "Thunderclap" that is probably the prettiest song I've heard from just about anyone. What happens first is you hear this acoustic guitar intro, and you think "well that is pretty" and then you hear him sing and that's it, you're hooked... "Was I induced? I let my guard down to you Should I indulge in happiness? A paradise once again Yes I know this time it could end I went along giving in" He'll probably come through your neck of the woods eventually, or nearby, and I swear if he does you should see him perform live. Because hearing his recordings from a speaker, that is one thing, but hearing him live is completely another. It's more like feeling than hearing. I have to mention his wife Jackie too, because she is his inspiration, his reason for life, you can tell it when you meet them. You know how you meet people sometimes and it feels like you have know them forever and a day already, and without even blinking you know instantly and without a doubt that this is someone truly special? That is Jackie. It's like you're meeting an old friend the first time you meet her. They're both like that. It's a beautiful thing. Okay well anyway, just go listen to this song. If you don't like it I will not hold it against you, but I will wonder what is wrong with your ears..." Thanks for stopping by ... Lee

C&P ...

The C N P Coffee Cafe, I really enjoy playing this place. Great sounding room. Thanks George, Harold, Cameron, Pete, Kara and Robert for making me feel at home. See you all again June 10th! Lee

Just a good'ol thank you

Seattle is just an amazing city. The rain thing is so overrated. Still does not hide the beauty of this magical place. The support for singer songwriters up here is second to none. Alot of cities claim to be like this, but really, this place does. People are out every night to just listen no matter who you are. Its great! It has been a pleasure meeting/getting to know you all this past few weeks. And performing for you. I really do look forward to the shows, knowing that you have songs you'd like to hear already, and i love playing them for you. Thats the best part. I cant thank you enough for the incredible support you've shown Jackie and I of late. So Thank you again for taking the time to share your evenings with me/us at my shows. Really does means the world to us ~ LTP

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great holiday season! 2006 looks to be a very busy year already. I’ll be releasing 3 studio albums in succession, as well as touring for the better part of 6 months, starting in April sometime. I will be concentrating mostly on the west coast (Seattle to San Diego) but will also be hitting areas like Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado, with a few special trips to the east coast where I’ve already made plans for New York City, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. Of course other places in-between too. First things first…the music… Out of the gate in 2006 will be my 6th release, “Gathering The Stones,” a 10-song acoustic record, with the remarkable Simeon Flick providing guitar work and his co-producing skills. We’re just about done and hopefully by month’s end (this month - HA!) it’ll be out. I’m very proud of what Simeon and I have come up with. I don’t want to spoil the theme, but I think you’ll agree it’s my most personal album. Now, as many of you know, I’ve been working on another album called “Soulturated” for what seems like 50 yrs. It was supposed to be a double-length CD, then got pushed aside for “Life Without Fences.” Well this album too will be finished by spring. Simeon Flick again will bear most of the musical load, and this one promises to be a rockin’ effort - drums, electric guitars, etc. I really did not want to make this record without Simeon. The songs have already been chosen (many saved for this) and it should be done by April or May. And a 3rd release, “Half Painted Windows,” will follow sometime in the fall. Getting these records done is my main priority this year. I will then take a break from recording. Touring … This Friday, Jan. 6th, I’ll be at Borders in Carmel Mt. in San Diego, from 8pm to 10pm. Then on Jan. 17th I’m making a trip to Tucson, AZ, for a group of special listeners, at a place called Plush (a club with a very cool vibe), for what I hope to be the first of two CD Release Parties of “Gathering The Stones” (2nd release TBA in San Diego soon). If by chance the CD is not fully mastered or ready, I will bring a raw mix/preview for those who come out in Tucson! Simeon Flick will be joining me on guitar/djembe/vocals, and then playing a short set of his own material in-between my sets. This is something he and I are working on for the entire Tour. Look for this to be a regular thing as the year progresses – working as a duo, sharing sets. Simeon is a special talent with a knack for making music sparkle and shine. It’s a pleasure and honor to have him aboard. Those of you who have not heard him (that’s him all over “emancipate”), I urge you to give him a listen. All his info is here - www.simeonflick.com I will start announcing tour dates shortly and keep you posted on the release of “Stones.” I will be a Southern Californian while we finish the albums. If anyone has a club/venue where you’d like us to come and play, please just let me know and I will work out the details. Jackie and I are really working towards being able to live out on the road this year so feel free to ask. Those of you who know me, know that I have driven as far as Iowa, NY, Tampa, and Seattle for fans! Thank you for the continued support. It’s played a hand in keeping this dream alive. Words do not express my gratitude. Hope the New Year is off to a good start and everyone is well! Peace, Lee www.leetylerpost.com

Palm Springs & New Acoustic CD

Got my first chance at playing up in the Palm Springs area and had a blast. Muchas Gracias to Wy, Bobbie, Val, Mike & Rene, and everyone else who attended. Store was bumpin and good times were had. Already booked there Feb 25th so we'll do it again! I'm bringing Simeon! The Music ~ I'm busy recording my next acoustic cd titled (for now), "Gathering The Stones" with the amazing Simeon Flick. He's co-producing as well as playing guitar for me. We are shooting for the Plush gig Jan. 17th in Tucson, AZ as the CD release party. As of now its looking like 8 songs. I may add a couple more. Then I'll be helping Simeon on his next release, "Reactive Soul" before continuing on "Soulturated." By April, I should have 2 brand new CDS for sale. I'll keep you posted on sound clips and its release! Lee

Nashville & Florida

My final trip through south (for the year) was very cold and cool. Cold because it was in the low twenties, and cool because I saw some of my favorite people. Thank you first off to Tania & Kris Kimberly for coming out to my French Quarter Cafe show in Nashville - meant alot to me! It was great seeing you two, and of course, Scott and baby David. You're like family to Jackie and I. It was wicked cold through TN in the early A.M - Ahhh, I'm gonna miss that fun stuff! Tampa proved to be both fun and a bit heavy hearted. My good friend Al Alvarez's mother became very ill and could not host the house concert. (Jackie and I are thinking of you and your family Al & Becky) Another time buddie! SO - my very dear friends/pals Chris and Sheila Hughes of Nubzilla's Cafe (www.nubzillascafe.com) covered and held it at their house. The set-up, lights, stage, fire pit, all of it - FANTASTIC! (Thank you you guys big time!) My only thoughts though were on Al's loss. So it was great BUT! I do want to thank those of you who did come out. I know it was very cold in the back yard. I looked up and everyone was swarming around the fire pit. Pretty cool actually. My friend Justin Beckler played first and sounded awesome. Those of you who haven't heard Justin, can check him out here -(www.justinbeckler.com) Also, Thank you Jeff O'Kelley for putting together the Dunedin Brewery show last minute for us - way cool! Pleasure sharing the stage with you pal. Another great artist. (www.jeffokelley.com) HANFEST II at the Catherine Hickman Theater is always a great show. Ton of talent and fun. Thank you Carl Beckler of Balentine Productions (www.balentineproductions.com) for having me out once again. (4th time now) You put on a top notch show. A very classy evening. I should also mention that his whole family takes a role in this. Megan takes UNREAL pictures of all the artists (most of those pics on my photos page are by her). Zack is the MC, and really thats a show in itself. And Justin plays - which is killer. So thank you to the whole Beckler family (Jeanne too) for being so gracious to me and all the artists involved. Alot of work, and you guys never stop. A huge Thanks to Sheila Kirsten Hughes for singing backup and playing cello on "Howlin Wind" at HAN - AWESOME! You sounded great. That was the highlight of the night for me. Jackie and I had a blast hanging with you and Chris, as usual! So thats it! My last trip of the year. I will be in Southern California recording with Simeon Flick (www.simeonflick.com) for awhile and playing around town. Until next time ... Lee

Santa Fe, NM & Denver, CO

Thank you to all the folks who came out/stuck around at my Santa Fe Border Shows! In particular, Julie who came out for both. (Very nice meeting you!) Had a really good time and your support buying CDS, and chatting afterwards meant alot to us! I'll see you all again soon. Had a great time up in Mile High Denver and then back down the hill in Colorado Springs! Wanna Thank Jim, Flo, Tom, Fina, Annmarie, and everyone else who was sitting near by for coming out, and sticking around. Both shows went very well. I'd also like to welcome to the world - David Arthur Kimberly who was born October 26th! Congrats to my dear friends/family Scott, Tania and Kris Kimberly (dad, mom, & big brother) in Nashville, TN. We wouldn't of missed it for the world! Thanks for stopping by, Lee

Mission Valley

A night to remember, thats for sure. Simeon Flick joined me and we rocked borders. A big huge "Thanks" to my friend for really making the music shine. Along with playing guitar and djembe, Simeon threw in some killer vocal harmonys. We're hoping to take this routine on tour in 2006 - can't wait! Good turnout as well. And those of you who were present, got to witness a "not-so-little" Katie Johnston sing 3 of my songs. Katie used to come out and sing with me when she was 11. Well, she's all grown up now. You did great kiddo, and you're always welcome. Just alot of fun! Thanks to everyone else who made the journey out. All the loyal listeners who treck all across San Diego to hear me. Sure feels nice to see your faces in the audience. So THANKS! I'm off to Denver Colorado ... Lee

Carlsbad - Borders

Carlsbad was the first stop on my 3 Borders shows this week. Big thanks to "Rob" for the huge support and "Monster" drinks, how funny dude. (Geoff in Tucson told Rob to pull that prank!) Nice meeting you bro. Also, a great surprise to see my "Doc" at this show - WOW! Thanks for taking the time to come out Sir. And to the new listeners, see ya again at Mission Valley friday. This has been a crazy and very memorable year, thats for sure! Lee

Tucson Rocks

A Huge "Thanks" to Geoff and Lisa Adams for not only coming out both nights to Borders, but also for having Jackie and I over for a BBQ on Saturday. What a great chef man. Buddie, its listeners like you that make it all worth it. Which brings me to your round table. I need to mention the whole gang here because I was blown away by the support in Tucson. So, THANK YOU Adam "Slide Rock" Huette, Eric "Staks" Stakland and his wife, Kris. Courtney "Ashtray", Amy Nelson, John & Carole Adams (Geoff's parents), Dylan and Sarah, and Bob and Jennifer. And Kelly from Friday Night's gig. Can't remember everyone's name, but you're all thanked. Jackie and I had a great time meeting/hanging out with you all. We'll be back shortly...with a new CD ok. Thanks a lot all of you for buying up the CDs, coming out, and basically making me feel like a "real" artist. Such a wonderful feeling meeting the faces behind the encouraging e-mails. Tucson Rocks! A new permanent stop on Tour! Back to recording, Lee

College Radio Show

Huge Thanks to Joan Rubin, the host of "Locals Live" at Palomar College in San Diego. Had a blast! Best part was playing alongside my pal Simeon Flick. Sim sat in and played guitar and Djembe for me. In between playing, we all listened to my favorite artists/influences - I was the guest DJ! I'll post pics soon of both the radio show, and The "Listening Room" gig in L.A! Off to Tucson. Thanks for stopping by, Lee

Phoenix / Los Angeles Shows

Thanks to the McDowell & Lykken Clans for showing up at Borders in Phoenix. It was a pleasure to finally meet ya all. Also, Thanks to Chuck and his wife, Shannon, for coming out. Had a great turnout and alot of fun. A big Thank you to Brett Perkins for having me in your "Listening Room" Concert Series. Held in the Historic Aztec Hotel/Mayan Room in Monrovia. Played alongside some amazing talent. Also got to meet and talk with Larry Wines who hosts a radio show on KCSN 88.5 called, "Tied To The Tracks / Acoustic Americana." Larry has asked me to come on up and do an "in studio" live performance in the near future. Very cool. Thanks also to Mark Humphreys who hosted (and also played) the event. Had a really good time. I'm also working on a Genghis Cohen show as well with Marina V and Simeon Flick. Next up, my 2 hour live "in studio" show with Joan Rubin on KKSM 1320 AM at Palomar College. Then its on to Tucson, AZ! Thanks, Lee

Borders Gaslamp & El Cajon

Great time in the Gaslamp District (downtown San Diego) at Borders last night. Thank you Leslie, Bobby (Happy Birthday Sara) Gloria (great to see you), Mike & my family members. And thank you Dawn (manager) & staff for being so professinal. Enjoyed the night alot. Thank you Gabi and Patty (The Cairo sisters) for coming out tonight to El Cajon. And for taking pictures. Really aprreciated that. It's off to Phoenix then Los Angeles after that... Thanks, Lee

Seattle

WOW! What an unbelievable place. A city in the mountains. Seattle - you're the real deal! I will travel to come there, every year. A huge THANKS to Jenaferre James for the tremendous support. (and posse Susann, Cori, Sarah & Risa!) Meant the world to Jackie and I you guys coming out. Pleasure meeting you all. What's with the far west, and far east of the U.S.? You guys are all so nice. Genuine is the word. Just great support for the arts and music. Ok, Conor Byrne Pub is what venues should be. Shared the bill with Angie Reed, Twirl & Creeping Time, and all just ultra-talented artists/bands. Probably one of the most well balanced nights i've been a part of. You all made me feel like i've been a part of the local scene all along. Also, Thanks to Rod and Brad (who work @ Conor Byrne) for being so professional. All of you, wow! Nicest people! Trabant Chai Lounge and C & P Coffee, both places made us feel very welcomed. John Johnson opened for me at the Chai House, then i performed two long sets. Very cool guy, and very good artist by the way. Thanks Anna and Michael as well. Cameron and Pete (C & P) have a wonderful little coffee house. Had a very relaxing 2 hr. set. Thanks Robert (from the Bronx - New Yorkers everywhere) for the kind words and support. The Rainbow Room was last minute, but worth it. David the sound guy was a pro, and runs awesome sound. Thanks to Josh and Jesse for sticking around while i exhausted 25 songs at yeh. You too Risa and Jen! Last but not least, The Upstage Restuarant over in Port Townsend. Mark the owner, man, what a fabulous place you've got. Thought i was playing for 30mins ... wound up playing for 3hrs. Fraya, thanks for the endless coffee. Missed the last Ferry and everyone rallied to find us a place. Thanks again Jen & Susann for the rescue! This was one trip Jackie and I hated to see end. Seattle is everything it's hyped up to be. What a music city should be - is supposed to be. Jimi's spirit is alive and so is Cobain's. There's a depth to the city i dont find in too many others. It never rained once either. Not a drop. Wouldn't have cared, we love the rain. The city is beautiful and the people are genuine and sincere. Have to admit, kinda floated out of there. Portland is equally spectacular and the Red & Black Cafe was very cool. Thank you Mary & Pia for making the drive. I definitely need to spend more time in that city next tour. Hope everyone enjoyed the CDs when you got home! Thank you again for making the trip very memorable for us. You sure know how to make an artist feel appreciated! Thanks, Lee

Homecoming

Thank you to those who came out to Borders in Carmel Mountain saturday night! Saw alot of old friends, and a few surprises i did not count on. Made my day. Thank you Wy, Mike & Donna Budd, Gabi, Leslie, Ed & Carin, Henry & Dolores Painter, George & Linda (my old friend Dr. George in my photos), and my best pal Eric Nielsen, who pulled off a great prank on me! You all have always been there for my music. It was a pleasure to sing for you again, and play the songs that started it all back in '99. A great homecoming for sure! Well, i'm off to Seattle for 7 shows and then to Tucson, Phoenix then back to San Diego. I'll try and report from the road when i get a chance. As always, thanks for your support, Lee

Thanks to Shannon Cain for bringing out his listeners - and for playing too. This was a Great venue with a great sound system. Thanks Carlos for running that wonderful sound and Robert (bartender) for the free "Monster" energy drink. Needed the pep man! Had fun! The Big Easy... Started off in Metaire at Keystones and had a good time. Thank you Josh for allowing me to play. And Allan for the kind words. Loved Neutral Grounds down by the French Quarter. Michael (bartender) thanks for hustling and passing the hat for me. Very receptive audience. What a cool vibe that place has. Thought i stepped into a Gypsy Den. Very earthy and Bohemian-like. Cool venue. I'll be in California now for awhile, then its off to Seattle. I want to thank everyone who continues to suppport Jackie and I. Your emails of encouragement (plus CD purchases) really keep us going. We feel very lucky to be able to meet new people, and visit different citys, all across this great country of ours. Take it easy .. Lee

Del Mar & Tampa

Going coast to coast from Tampa, Florida to San Diego, California in a week has been quite the event, driving no less! Reminds me why i love to play music so much. Tampa was fun and got to see alot of singer-songwriters i had met the last time i was there. (a few new ones too!) Alot of these people make up Just Plain Folks (JPFolks.com) and were in full bloom at HAN VI. Thank you Al Alvarez & Co., (President of the Tampa Chapter "Just Plain Folks.") for supporting this event, and a huge Thanks to Carl Beckler of Balentine Productions who again put together a terrific show and line up.Always a pleasure Carl to perform. All the artists involved performed great, and i'm looking forward to HANFEST II in Dec. Big Thanks to Jeff & Priscilla O'Kelly for throwing such a wonderful House Concert for me. Jeff even performed (showed why he's regarded as one of Tampa's finest), as did Shannon Cain. Sheila Kirsten Hughes joined me for "Howling Wind" and really made my night. Beautiful voice. Thanks Sheila! My return to San Diego was bitter sweet. Simeon Flick joined me onstage and lit a spark in me, and my music. I really had a blast just singing for a change. He then performed a small set and showed why i regard him as the complete package. The guy is simply that talented. My buddie Shannon Cain joined me next and both of us had alot of fun performing and sharing the stage together. Final treat was when all three of us (Simeon & Shannon) performed on the 21st. Great time was had in San Diego! Thanks to all of you who came out to see me while i was in town. I have not seen alot of you in 2 years or so. Made the trip worth it! Well, just wanted to drop a quick note saying that i appreciate all the feedback and support that you've given. I've really enjoyed the journey! next stop, Dallas & New Orleans. Thanks for taking the time to read this! LTP

New Review & CD Update

Frederick Leonard of The San Diego Troubadour did a review of "emancipate" recently and said some very nice things about it. Big 'Thank You' To Mr. Leonard! You can check it out here -http://leetylerpost.com/press-group-47.html Also, the first volume of 'Soulturated' will be available April 20th. I should have the other 5 song clips up this week sometime. I have also added dates in New York City, New Orleans, Dallas and Seattle! Many more to come... Thank you as always for dropping by, LTP

Soulturated Vol.1

Just wanted to let everyone know I'll be putting up song clips this weekend for "Soulturated" - 5 this weekend and then 5 more next weekend. This album will be all acoustic, just me, my jumbo guild and harmonicas. All takes are being recorded live with no editing of any kind. Done in 1 take with blemishes left for authenticity. I have added little melody riffs and vocal harmonies but each song contains only 4 tracks. Sparse and Raw. Starting in August thru December, I will be recording a full length CD at "Miracle Somethings Studio" back in California. The incredibly talented Simeon Flick will once again be on guitar, bass and percussion.(www.simeonflick.com). For those not familar with Simeon, he played all over "emancipate" and the connection/friendship we made really shows on that album. We may pull a few songs out of the "3-Disc Soulturated Collection" and build them up into a more full-production format. This will be something special I'm sure. Other news ~ My CD Release Party for "Soulturated Vol.1" will be Friday, April 29th @ The French Quarter Cafe. At 7pm. This show will be recorded live and then made available to buy sometime in May. Thanks for stopping by, LTP

Jerry's been playing my music on WRIR-FM 97.3(http://www.greatamericanmusichour.com/) and is a great supporter of un-signed INDIE Artists. -------------------------------------- Victory Junction Benefit ~ Thank you to Billy Jones & Paul Resh of Project Stepping Stone for having me out to perform at the benefit for the Victory Junction Gang Camp in North Carolina. It was a pleasure meeting all of you in person. To Sissy, Bryan, Carl and Abe Reid & The Spike Drivers (Abe, Corey and Charlie) it was an honor to spend the evening getting to know you all. By the Way, Abe and his band are awesome! But I especially enjoyed meeting/hanging with Dusty, Paul & Sissy Resh's 11 yr old son. Dusty was born with some major hurdles. Life altering hurdles that rock the whole family. Dusty has fought to overcome these hurdles through many surgerys. His parents are all class. Very loving family. Dusty is a true warrior. Little man, you're my hero. I am proud to know you. The trip was worth it just to meet you. You keep fighting and shocking the world. You make the rest of us stop and take notice with your courage. Jackie and I had a great time with you all. A quick note about Project Stepping Stone and Victory Junction Gang. Happy New Year ~

Happy New Year to all! First off, I want to thank all those who came out, bought cds and supported me and Jackie on the Rock 'N' Soul Tour of 2004. What a year! Nearly 40,000 miles driving across 15 states and close to 40 citys performed live. I really cant express enough the graditude and appreciation to you all. We met alot of new artist friends we'll be working with in 2005, and met alot of new listeners we hope to see again next time around. We have some big plans for this year starting with the release of 3 different cds. I will be promoting them all thoughout the year. And a few suprises as well. Well, heres to a great year! Thanks for stopping by, Lee

Memoirs of 2004

December 31, 2004 Had a great time again in Tampa performing with some amazing talent at HAN FEST. Love the Catherine Hickman Theater, great sounding venue. Thank you Gary for running incredible sound for us. A special THANK YOU to Chris & Sheila Hughes for putting me and Jackie up over the weekend. Thank you Karen at Sacred Grounds for being so excited to have us back. And a "Big" thanks to Carl Beckler for including me in this great series. "Hot Acoustic Nights!" I've been invited back 2 times for 2005 and can't wait to perform on that grand stage again. Been a wild year with tornados, hurricanes, bad thunder storms, all kinds of weather. Feel blessed we made it safely back and forth everywhere. Treacherous out there on those highways. But i'm obsessed with that way of life. Nothing like being out on the road living free, nothing. Must mention i played new years tonight at the Commodore Inn. Debi Champion is the host there. First time i made it over there to see her since i've been back in Nashville. Was a homecoming of sorts. Last day of the year. She gave me my first shot in '99 and was responsible for putting me with so many great songwriters then. Changed the way i approached music. Seeing her made it all full-circle. She didn't remember me at first, until i sang. Which was perfect. I've always said, it's all about the music, not me. Made me and Jackie smile from ear to ear, what a year ... Thank you everyone for making this so memorable. see ya next year, Lee December 12th, 2004 Latest Tour News - Notable mention regarding the past few shows over at The Top of Barrel with Melissa Sigler, Brennon John and Shannon Cain - "Great time, great music!" It always seems that when we get together to play it creates this aura effect of collective souls. We all sing a little better, play a little better. It helps that Johnny Walker "The Man" runs incredible sound but it's more then that. Just a killer place to play and hang. Another Lodge like venue. Anyways, just thought i'd say a few words about the place. Always have fun no matter what mood i'm in. Looks like we'll all be playing there alot more now and calling in home so to speak. So if you want to find me and the gang at a place with great sound, great seating, come on over to The Barrel in the Bellevue Mall! It's outside and inside of the entrance doors. Good food as well. Well, up next is Tampa and then thats it for me until February out on the road. Looking forward to recording and taking a little breather for a couple months. Thanks for stopping by and killing a few minutes ... Lee November 28th, 2004 Latest Tour News - Thank you Jack Scott at the French Quarter Cafe for the very cool round with Gary Hays and Brennon John. Had a great time. Gary, finally we shared the stage, you sounded wonderful. Brennon played whats now become his trade mark song "Run River Run" again. Also, thank you Johnny Walker at the Top Of The Barrel for the new shows and warm welcome. Very cool place. Me, Melissa and Brennon will be playing their alot. Shannon Cain is another great talent that will be joining this Misfit gang! I also want to mention i will be at the French Quarter Cafe Thursday Dec. 23rd at 7:30pm for a featured spot. Very much looking forward to my 30min set. Thank you Jack! Things are picking up here in the music city. Gonna be exciting to see what happens in 2005! More Tour News - The Catherine Hickman Theatre in Gulfport, Florida is awesome! Big thanks to Carl Beckler of Balentine Productions for including me on Hot Acoustic Nights. Can't wait til Dec 18th for the Holiday Reunion Show. ( or HAN FEST as they call it) Shared the bill with North 2 South (Frank & Cindy LaRosa) who put on one hell of a show, and Kathryn Stafford a true folk singer with a beautiful voice. Very, very nice people on top of it all. Great night and expierence and i'll be working with N2S on future shows both here and in Tampa. I also had my 2 shows with Sheila Kirsten Hughes (and Chris her husband) bookending the weekend. What a angelic voice she has. A pleasure to sit and listen to her sing. We'll be sharing the bill alot from now on. Good mix me and her for shows. Great people. Had alot of fun sharing the stage, meeting them and hanging out. Thank you Sheila & Chris for your hospitality. Also heard Carrie Pigeon (Sheila's friend) and she's got something cool musically happening. Again, cool person. Had a blast and a wonderful time and will be hitting Tampa alot from here on out. The gig on Nov. 17th right before we split at The Boro was killer. Me, Melissa Sigler and Brennon John rocked the joint. 4hrs of non stop rounds playing on eachothers songs. Now that was fun! Love playing with those two. Well, thanks for stopping by and hope to see some of you out at a show. Take it easy, Lee November 13th, 2004 Latest Tour News - Thank you Toni Becker & Melissa Sigler for joining me at the French Quarter Cafe friday night. Had a blast sharing the stage with you. Happy Birthday again Serena! Next up is The Boro Bar & Grill in Murfreesboro witn Melissa, Brennon John and Gary Hays. We'll have the stage for 4 whole hours so please come on out and here some very multi-genre music. We're set to hit the stage at 9:30pm! See ya there, Lee November 6th, 2004 Latest Tour News - Jack Scott runs the sound at the French Quarter Cafe here in Nashville absolutely incredible. My friend and fantastic singer/songwriter Mike Oakley invited me to play in his round friday night. (11/5) It was my first time on Jack's nite at the Quarter and it felt like i was in surround sound or something. Had a great time. Met another talented artist named Eric Roza. He reminded me of Dylan mixed with Donald Fagen of Steely Dan. Cool style! Very much looking forward to my next shows at the French Quarter. So much talent it's scary. Truly the melting pot of talent here. Not just country either, all styles really. Alot of Rock, Folk, Blues for sure. Kinda hard not to be inspired after leaving the place. Reminds me of Hobo's alot ... More News - I also had the honor once again to share the stage with Don & Karen Mcnatt Wednesday night (11/03) at the French Quarter Cafe. For those who are not familiar with them, check them out. Or go to his website and have a listen. Beautiful duets. Don invited me to join them and i will never pass up a chance to share the stage. And The French Quarter Cafe is all they say it is. Great sound, food and vibe. I should add alot of places in the east/south call there venues "Cafe's", but thats misleading. This place is more like a lodge with a stage. In fact most of the places are like lounges. Big places with a ton of seating, hardwood floors and high ceilings. Beer, Wine and food. Since Hobo Joe' closed down in Spetember, a HUGE LOSS FOR NASHVILLE, this will most likely be my hanging spot from now on. I've got shows lined up through Nov. and plan on adding more in Dec. Got baptized so to speak on Lee Rascone's first night hosting there. Lee's a cool character. He used to run nights at the Broken Spoke when i was here in '99. Also a place on broadway called "Crossroads." Well, not much more to tell other then i'm back at recording and FINALLY making progress. Looks like my 3 new CDs will be done before years end after all. Look for samples on the MUSIC page mid-Nov! Well, thanks again for spending a few minutes reading my update.... Lee October 28th, 2004 Latest Tour News - Played a show with Melissa Sigler & Brennon John at The Moonlight Music Cafe in Birmingham, AL and had a blast. Katey (Brennon's lady) has took to calling us "The Nashville Misfits" because we're so different then the norm here in Nashville. Meaning, we're not country at all. I think the owner of the Moonlight coined the phrase. Anyways, we convoyed out to Birmingham and they really made the trip worth it for me and Jackie. These two are dynamite performers. We'll be performing alot the next few months together. Now about the place, The Moonlight is an awesome venue period. Great sound system, great set-up. It's only been around for awhile and needs all the support it can get. I urge all artists/songwriters/bands to check the place out and play there. Keith & Joanie are great hosts and make you feel right at home. This will definetly be a stop from now on. Up next ... Knoxville! Thanks for stopping by, Lee October 17th, 2004 Latest Tour News - Big thanks to Ivy at the Shannon Lounge in New Jersey for making that feature spot so cool. Top 5 best place i've ever played easy. What they've got going on there is the real deal. Thanks Dave for running great sound. The SideWalk Cafe in Manhattan is a killer venue as well. Again Thanks to Chris the sound guy for making my set easy and rewarding. I'll be back to both places on my Spring Tour for sure. Special Thanks to my friend Steven Rodriguez (and Greg & Laura) for making the trip out to the Long Island Borders. You put a little pep into me and i cut loose for a change. Already been asked back so add that to the others we've discussed in Long Island next Spring. And i have to add the Chapel Hill Borders show as a very rewarding night last friday. Some really neat listeners made me feel very welcomed. Finally, The Flipside in Clayton, NC. Very top shelf. Cliff & Jodi run a top notch venue with a decked out hip club. Played 3 sets and was very appreciated! Thank you so much to those who sat and listened. And to all who bought a CD at all the shows on this 10 day road trip. Best trip by far. Our path this time was through the Virginia's, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, then down to North Carolina. Beautiful. New York though is Magical. Next to Montana, our favorite place to be now. Chilled in Central Park, cruised the subways and even drove downtown in the heart of Manhattan (dodging Cabs i might add). Visited Ground Zero, which everyone should if the chance presents itself. Can't really describe the feeling, numbing i guess. You have to see it, to feel it. Much different then TV or pictures. Very saddened as are many. Spent a little time in Atlantic City on the boardwalk, the Jersey Shores. Very cool. Hated to come home... can't wait to get back to New York & Jersey thats for sure. Great experience and memories. Well, Thanks for stopping by ... Lee September 13th, 2004 Latest Tour News - Thanks to the local support at the Rusty Nail in Wilmington, North Carolina friday, all of you! Both for coming out and sticking around. It was pouring down so hard i could barely see the streets. In fact, missed my turn 3 times! One-way Streets being washed over with 2 feet of water it seemed - unreal. Afermath of Frances. Never-the-less i played my sets, you responded great - made the trip worth it! The Cape Fear River is awesome. Wilmington looks like Idyll Wild in San Diego, but by the ocean. I do have to mention the band after me, The Relatively Calm. Not what i expected at all, i don't mean that in a bad way either. Total throw back to the Violent Femmes and Cure. Throw a little Smashing Pumkins in, and make it acoustic based - thats them. The night turned out cool, met some new friends. Plus the drive out I-74 the next morning to Charlotte was a dream. Jackie thought maybe the storm had us all turned around and we're going down Highway 47, backwards. (inside joke) Thank you Charlotte for your appreciation saturday night as well. And a BIG THANKS to all of you who bought a CD(s) really means alot to me. These places we've seen, so beautiful. I love the road. My buddie back in San Diego use to call me Gypsy-Lee, maybe this is what he meant??? Your support makes it all possible, and i know it sounds redundant -BUT THANKS! See ya, Lee September 8th, 2004 Latest News - Just wanted to post a quick entry and say how much i've enjoyed playing the Hobo Joe's rounds with all the fantastic singer/songwriters. I can never say enough about Gary & Kim Hays, owners of Hobo Joe's. Tonights round with Melissa Sigler who's a wonderful performer that flows a meloncholy cabaret, female Tom Waits-like vibe at ya, and Pat The Hat who's also as unique produced his John Mellencamp / John Hiatt vibe to the audience. It was great to be onstage tonight thats for sure. To top it off, Gary found out i was a Don Mcnatt fan (local great) and asked if i'd go back up and sing in a round with him. Of course i said yes! Very cool indeed. What a great tuesday night. Nashville.....home of the songwriter. Everybody's good. Keeps you honest thats for sure. Well it's off to Cape Fear at the Rusty Nail, should be a blast! Thanks for stopping by, Lee August 29th, 2004 Tour - Thank you Raleigh, NC for the support Friday Night (and saturday). It was a pleasure to perform for you all and hope you enjoyed the CDs after you got home. I got to say though, the drive through the Appalachian Mountains was the icing on the cake. Cruising through Asheville and then Maggies Valley, beautiful! I could of just circled around and around that area and got lost on purpose. High country with timber, river streams and majestic views. Felt small to it all. Sometimes you just got to say, wow! Cool thing is, i get to go through that area (Appalachian Mountains / Smoky Mountains) half a dozen more times this Fall. We (Jackie and I) feel very blessed and lucky to live this life. Thanks for continuing to buy the Cds and support in general. Latest News - I'm now booked 4 more times at Hobo Joe's! Thrilled to be part of what Gary and Kim & Co. are building over there. The place is so cool. I've seen some incredible talent over the last couple visits (to many names to mention), but Marc-Alan Barnette is so good it was scary. Every ounce of effort, guy holds nothing back. I'm honored to have a seat amongst them. Thanks Gary! The CD - I'm now back recording and will have this first Volume done very soon. It's really helping that i'm getting a chance to play these new songs live before finishing them up. Capturing the moment i think. Well, hope all is well and thanks for stopping by....Lee August 21st, 2004 Tour - Last night I sat in on a round at Hobo Joe's (in Nashville) for the first time, and had the great pleasure to hear C.J Watson lay melody lines over everybodys tunes (he was the host). Right on the spot he made it up. Again it occured to me how talented these folks are. If you ever get to the point where you think you're great, step on in at Hobo Joe's and have a listen - you'll hear real quick how it's done. These people can not only write a good tune, but sing one also. It's like going to music 101, lots to learn and lots to hear. Everytime i leave there i can't get home quick enough and grab my guitar. Look for many dates at this "very hip" place soon. Thank You Gary & Kim for the very warm "welcome home" guys. You make us feel at home. Love your place... Well, it's off to North Raleigh, North Carolina next...Gods Country! Thanks for stopping by, Lee August 1st, 2004 Tour - Another beautiful drive through the south. Thank you Memphis again for the great responce friday night. Really enjoyed performing for you and i will be back for sure a third time. Also, just booked a show at Hobo Joes in Nashville, August 20th and can't wait to take that stage. Great way to hit Nashville running. Thanks Gary for asking me back! And most recently, I will be sharing the stage with the multi-talented Sheila Kirsten Hughes again Nov. 21st at Javatropolis in Tampa, FL. Busy little 3 day weekend in Tampa, should be a blast. I'll post more on all the details real soon ok. Studio -Well, i'm back at it again but will admit it's been a struggle to record, tour and write all at the same time. I'm gonna try real hard to have this first volume done by years end. Hopefully in time for November 20th's Hot Acoustic Nights show in Florida. It's getting there but i'm being real picky this time on takes and over all vibe of each track. I've labored over this one... want it right! Well thats it. Next message will be from Nashville. Thanks, Lee July 17th, 2004 Latest News By request i've posted a auto-biography of my journey thus far. I'll also be uploading a ton of old photos to mark my path to now. Highlighting some of the memorable places i've performed and the people i performed with. Stay tuned... Tour - Shows for New York have been posted. The Sidewalk Cafe in manhattan i'm really looking forward to playing. Look for more NY shows real shortly. Also, I just added Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse in Tampa Florida where i will sharing the stage with the very talented Sheila Kirsten Hughes! I'm also working on Nashville shows and should be able to post some soon. Almost all these new shows will be clubs or bars. I'll only be adding in Borders shows here and there. I know it looks pretty loaded with Borders right now but come August it will balance out. Well, oh yeh... special thanks to the folks at Lefty's Bar & Grill for buying my CDs and warm response. Kinda neat everyone listening to me in the bar while waiting on their flight. To my left i could see planes coming and going out the window, thats pretty cool. Also, big thanks for those of you who stopped by Borders in the Westgate Mall last night. (and Matt behind the counter rooting me on while he served up expresso's) Had another memorable night performing, thank you! This has really been a special year for me and Jackie so far and it's only July! It's been extremly hard mind you, but for some reason i think i'm gonna remember 2004 more then most yrs. Here's to the Fall...can't wait! Thanks from camp LTP! As always i'm humbled by your support...Lee July 4th, 2004 Tour - Thank you to those in San Antonio for sticking around 4th of July weekend at both Border Stores. I had a great time performing for you all! I'll be performing local for the month of July with the exception of July 30ths show in Memphis. After that, i'm off to Nashville for my Fall Tour! In The Studio - Not much to report on the new CD except that i'm moving along slowly and gathering the first 10 songs on what will be called "Soulturated -Volume #1 - "Stranded In The Gray." For a look at all 3 Volumes, click here! I'm probably gonna just keep making volumes of "Soulturated" until i've exhausted myself on this idea. Could end up being only 3, could be as many as 5? For now, i'm keeping it at three volumes. Thats 30+ songs...I'm pretty sure thats enough for this experiment. Thanks always for the support, Lee June 7th, 2004 Tour - Starting in August the tour will be focused mainly on these states: Tennessee, Florida, North & South Carolina, New York, parts of Georgia, Mississippi & Alabama. Basically the East Coast and the South! I've added dates in North Carolina & Florida already. Two in particular i'm looking forward to are The Rusty Nail in Wilmington, North Carolina - September 10th, and Hot Acoustic Nights IV at the Catherine Hickman Theater in Gulfport, FL November 20th. Dates are being added every week now for the East coast so check the shows page updates! In The Studio - I have now come up with a brain-storm regarding "Soulturated - Live From My Living Room" I've decided to break the CD into Volumes. Release 3 separate disc's titled: Vol. 1 "Matters of the Heart." / Vol. 2 "Matters of the Soul" / Vol. 3 "Stranded in the Gray" all a month or two apart from each other. (10-12 songs per disc) This album has taken on a life of it's own. And i really feel these 30 tunes belong together and not broke apart and saved for later. So look for the first Volume on sale in late July. Followed by Vol.2 in September and Vol.3 in November. Thanks for dropping by... Lee May 25th, 2004 Tour - Thank you Hoffman Family for making the trek into Des Moines for the show saturday night (22nd), had a great time performing for you all. Now i understand Iowa weather, Tornados at the drop of a hat. Being told to stay inside and keep an eye out the window for twisters was, well, quite the experience. Told to hi-tail it to the back of the store if i saw dust turning outside, holy cow! You all made us feel at ease and they passed right over. I'll never forget that weekend. Wonderful people and Tornados, hey thats a song! Thanks alot ... Lee May 19th, 2004 Tour - Thanks to everyone who stuck around Friday Night the 14th in Oklahoma City. I had a great time playing and meeting all of you. Serena, Jeff & Traci - Thank you for making the trip into town. It was our pleasure to finally meet you guys. Truly a great weekend for me and Jackie! Hated to leave. Hobo Joe's is by far one of my favorite places to play. The vibe that Gary & Kim Hays provide for the songwriters is second to none. The place is seriously cool! Thanks Gary! Borders in Memphis, you were such a great audience and I love that city. (No wonder Elvis lived there!) The rain that came crashing down on the roof while i was singing scared the the living you know what out of me but it was in time with the music! I'll be back this summer for sure. This is the most personal, intimate and stripped down album I have made to date. It's being recorded live in small living room on a Jumbo Guild using 2 mics, 2 preamps.
